The whole thing would come across as awfully silly if it weren't for the facts surrounding the real Heaven's Gate cult. In contrast to their wacky belief system, Cummings seems positively sane. Whatever your take on the religious aspects of the flick, there's no denying that it's chock full of some of the steamiest back door boffing of the year.
